In a speech from the White House, President Obama celebrated Mubarak's resignation, comparing his departure to the fall of the Berlin Wall—while warning that "this is not the end of Egypt's transition. It's a beginning." He’s confident that the transition will go well, however, and that the military will continue its responsible work, he said in an address at the White House. The revolution in Egypt is also a lesson in the power of peaceful protest, he said. "Egyptians have inspired us" by putting the "lie to the idea that justice must be gained through violence.”
